One Year In
The first anniversary of this blog went by quietly and unnoted last month; but today's a much more significant anniversary. I entered the US, becoming a permanently resident alien, on the 25th November 2004.

Since then, I have:

Since then, I have:
- navigated the bureaucracy of the SSA, the DMV and the IRS
- experienced the my first Thanksgiving, the odd secularity of Christmas, and my first Independence Day; not to mention my first Earth Day
- got licensed, got mobile, got housed, and got hired
- faced dangerous, frightening, and unpleasant native wildlife
- developed a long-running love affair with hummingbirds: amazing little creatures
- got published, albeit in the smallest way
- got angry, and angrier, and finally determined
- explored the gloriously broad world of junk food
- survived my first California summer
- hiked 250 miles, got fitter, and even got a little thinner
Over here you're still the benchmark against which all others are judged. Stay where you are ... it's making me look good.
Actually, we miss you - but are glad that you're happy.
Now, are there any engineering positions at your company? ;-)
